What is a Protocol? |
|
The pre defined
plan also know as a Standard of Care for a
course of treatment by a health care practitioner. The
treatments can be holistic, allopathic, alternative or can
be a combination of some or all of these options.
It has been stated that today's Standards of
Care are tomorrows bad medicines. |

What is a Diagnosis? |
|
It means to recognize a
disease or
condition by its outward signs and symptoms,
or to analyze the underlying physiological/biochemical cause
(s) of a disease or condition. |
|
|
| |
|
What is a Prognosis? |
|
It is a medical term denoting the doctor's
"prediction" of how a patient's disease will progress, and
whether there is a chance of recovery.
This prediction is based on the doctors
prediction that you will not change what you have
been doing that lead to the disease or illness.
Remember, if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've already got. |

Have you repeatedly tried traditional
medicines, therapies and treatments, only to find that time after time
they still don't work to cure your ills, and you leave the experience
with a few more ills to nurse and even more pills to take? Medical protocols in traditional
allopathic medicine is used only to control, treat and
manage signs and symptoms 4 - 6 hours at a
time, not to cure your illnesses.
So what is a doctor? And what
are they suppose to do??
The word doctor is derived from the Latin language. It
doesn't mean healer, it means teacher—one who gives
people the knowledge they need to facilitate their own healing
processes and achieve a state of well-being.
The sad irony of the established medical profession today is that
far to many well meaning allopathic practitioners, who are not
educated to be healers, are treating their
patients with the growing list of illnesses that they themselves have
helped
to create or made worse through their practice of medicine and the use
of drug therapies.
From the common cold to cancer, allopathic practitioners (MD's and
RN's etc.) try their best to comfort you with potions and pills for your ills.
Medical practitioners (doctors, nurses etc.) are not trained to cure
or to heal patients, they are
trained in the primary use of treatment protocols to control and manage the symptoms of the illnesses that bring you to
their office or to the hospital. Most allopathic practitioners truly do their best
to help their patients with what they have spent years learning. But the time has come to acknowledge
that even their best effort with all that they have learned is no longer good enough. Medical
Doctors and pharmaceutical companies are not a first line of defense
to maintaining good health. It starts with "YOU."
You must be your own health advocate detective.
Remember
doctors "PRACTICE" medicine while "TREATING" their patients,
because it is not an exact science.
They are paid very well to practice. And you don't
need a prescription for good health, because there are no magic pills.
You need knowledge, because it is your first line of defense and
your most powerful medicine. You
need information, a plan
of action and your personal "SELF" commitment to follow through on staying healthy and fit
with the new things that you learn. Allopathic practitioners can't teach or practice what they never
learned in traditional educational programs. But health
practitioners are also victims too.

The health care
industry is big business. Drug companies are the
largest purchasers and consumers of herbs in the world, most of these
plants and herbs come from the South American rain forests. In
short, companies then take these plants and herbs
and synthesize and extract the medicinal components to market to
consumers for drug therapies at huge costs to waiting customers, i.e.
"THE PURPLE PILL." (fix me fast, forget the details)
Why? because herbs and vitamins can not be patented, but drugs can be.
Drug companies are publicly traded companies. I'm sure you've
seen the latest TV commercials with the close up of the pharmacist
speaking into the camera, who makes you feel like they're a caring
close friend of your family just wanting to help you. Who
wouldn't want to buy drugs from them.
The FDA states that only a drug can cure, prevent or treat an
illness. So most consumers don't know nor do they understand that
the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the drug companies via
political lobbyist really determine the course of medical treatment in
the United States. Most uninformed consumers rely mainly
upon current information from their health care practitioner and drug
company advertisement in the media. But
the average consumer is captive by misinformed health professionals and
commercial advertisement by drug companies. Today drug companies
provide the majority of the required CMU's (continuing medical
education credits) for health professionals.
Most doctors are literally paid to right prescriptions by drug
companies. Doctors even get gifts (sports event tickets,
expensive lunches / dinners etc.) and rebates (hundreds of thousands
of dollars) to write prescriptions. Sad to say some doctors
make treatment decisions based upon financial incentives offered by
pharmaceutical companies, and not on what is in the best interest of
their patients. Drug reps have publically admitted that they
sell the positives of the drugs and not the side effects when
marketing drug treatments to doctors. So many of the average consumers
who use and now need drug therapies and treatments are unknowingly caught in the middle.

Remember pharmaceutical companies are in the business to make a
profit, their primary focus in not to cure your illnesses, it's to
sell you prescription medications through a network of licensed health
professionals for the illness that you have
developed. Healthy people and health conscious people never
start out to use
drugs as their first line of defense to improve or maintain their
health when they have health concerns. But they do buy herbs, vitamins,
and seek alternative health consultations initially because they want to
maintain the quality of their lives and have good health. They
have good daily health practices i.e. no smoking, no excessive alcohol
use, eating with a nutritional purpose and daily exercise as part of
their overall life wellness plan. And for
the vast majority of them drugs and unnecessary invasive procedures are an
absolute last resort.
Drug therapies can and do cause continuous and at times lethal side effects.
Why? Because pharmaceutical drugs are synthetic and
foreign substances created to treat physical symptoms of illness and
disease in varying and/or high doses. The body is maintained in the constant
state of "DIS" "EASE" while under going treatment with drug therapies.
The body is designed to heal on its own if given time, nutritional
support and what it needs.
The human body readily rejects synthetic drugs as foreign substances
thus producing side effects. So side effects are and will
continue to be a normal process while taking pharmaceutical substances.
We live in a society that programs the public via media
advertisement continuously with the belief that there is a magic pill
for everything. So many innocent consumers jump on the drug
treatment
bandwagon ready and willing to try the latest standard cure for their
illnesses, whether it is OTC (over the counter) self treating
medications or doctor prescribed. Most without a second thought about how these
drug therapies will impact their health now or in the future with long
term treatments.
Currently the latest treatment option for patients today is to participate
in the ongoing research for their illness. Why? Because
they have nothing to loose, and neither does the doctor recommending
this option. The pharmaceutical companies get willing
volunteers to test their new experimental drugs. Patient's are tracked while taking
the latest new medicines to see how and if it slows the progression
of the illness or if the patient goes into remission. A cure
is never an option.
There are millions of dollars annually that go into training and
educating health professionals on the use of drug therapies and side
affect management by drug companies. Drug companies have a
vested interest in maintaining a continuing education relationship
with health professionals. Drug companies through (R & D)
research and development of new drug therapies, come before
practitioners prepared to move forward with solutions to the
continuing problems
found in the field where health professionals practice on the front
lines of health care. And with new and refined drug therapies
they are ready to plug new drugs into established treatment protocol
pathways. The feed back on drug side effects, positive and
negative drug interactions and patient compliance or complaints with drug use given
by health professionals is valuable information to drug companies.
This continuous feedback is then used to further refine the latest
drug therapies for the ongoing search for a perceived cure. It is a
cycle that never ends, and the health of the overall population that
continuously uses drug therapies keeps getting worse.

As a health
care professional, I have first hand experience with allopathic and
holistic treatment protocols. As a student at
the Clayton College of Natural Health, I am learning the benefits of
holistic treatments and protocols first hand. My goal in this
phase of my academic preparation is to obtain a doctorate in holistic
health, to teach, write and to consult on the reemerging phases of
holistic health and treatment protocols from an allopathic nursing
prospective. My academic training in both allopathic and
holistic health will allow me to help consumers by bridging the gap
between what they understand about current medical treatments and how
they can begin to take charge of their own health outcome from where they are right
now with helpful information on holistic alternative options. I personally want visitors to this Website to know
that there is hope, help, information and especially resources to
assist you while on your journey to better health right now, not in
the future.
So why is the role of a nurse important in
health care today? In short, nurses are trained to be the
eyes and ears of the doctor when they are not, and can not be at the bedside of their
patients. The nurse spends more actual time with the patient
than the doctor does. Doctors spend more time with critically
ill patients and in assessing for their level of illness to determine
which protocol to apply in each case. Nurses monitor for post
procedure issues and/or the success of a treatment outcome.
Nurses monitor for continued signs and symptoms of drug interactions,
medication side effects, after a procedure assessment and ongoing
treatment.
Nurses maintain direct communication with the doctor
about the status of their patient. Then at a critical phase, the
doctor is called to address issues using an appropriate treatment
protocol option for that present change of events. They monitor
to determine if their expected outcome or results were successful or
unsuccessful and provide time saving and at times life saving
intervention preparation. Nurses are also responsible for patient teaching.
Nurses instruct patients about their after care by providing
literature, information and address the patients questions and
concerns on continuity of care. Where ever their are nurses, the health care of the patient is
improved, stable and their chances of survival are far better.
The more skilled the nurse, the better the patient care.
And as a registered nurse, I have done
bedside care with patients in small community hospitals and major
primary care university medical centers in numerous unit milieus (i.e.
Stem Cell, Cardiac Medicine, General Medicine, Medical Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, Medical Surgical Gastointerology, Medical Surgical Step Down - Post
Surgery, Surgicenter-Same Day Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Gyne Oncology, Drug
and Alcohol Detox, Medical Detox, Adult Psych, Medical Psych, OB Psych,
OCD Psych, Neurological Psych, Psych Research,
Adolescent Psych, Pediatrics, Post Partum/Mother Baby and 23 Hour Observation).
I have also served as medical administrative specialist in military
hospitals and clinics in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
I have learned through experience and research that there is a science behind both
wellness and illness. I have attended lectures, seminars and
conferences on
holistic health, learned about the latest alternative treatments, protocols and participated in holistic
practicum's. I have observed holistic treatment options
and techniques and have listened to numerous survivors of major
illnesses first hand describe their success at overcoming various
diseases including the dreaded disease "CANCER."
I've learned that Cancer is a prime example of a true degenerative disease.
So I do understand the complexities of today's health care system
and the rapidly growing obsolete medical paradigm that most people
turn to for answers when they or their loved ones are faced with
illness. And I am increasingly aware of alternative
interventions and options that are available today, not in the future,
within the holistic health community that are used with great success.

are faced with an illness, please visit NUCONCEPTS "Where Health is
Wealth."

helpful information and websites that can be shared with visitors to
