Your Health Care Rights

What are Your  Health Care Rights?

You have a right to seek alternative and holistic treatments if you so choose, under the Ninth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Did you know that under the 9th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, that you have the right to freedom of choice in health care and educational services?  Most people don't know their rights as they relate to health care.  Especially your right to make informed health care choices and decisions regarding the inclusion of a qualified holistic practitioner.

However, if and when you do decide to make this choice related to your health care, it does come with some concerns.  The concern comes when your regular hospital / clinic based health care provider may not assist or support you when making your own decisions while on your path to better health.  Why?  Because this may not be their area of specialization and they don't have the academic or practice insight to assist you in that decision.  And they will not want to assume the professional liability for your decisions.  They may encourage you, but that may be as much as they will do.

So look for other licensed practitioners and request a referral.  Someone who your primary doctor can contact for holistic insights that he / she may not have.  Someone that can explain in medical terms what is going on from a more holistic point of view.  A licensed holistic practitioner who will support your decision for the betterment of your health while guiding you along the way.  You do have the right to do this.

There are today more practitioners who have advanced their skills to include alternative and holistic treatments and protocols.  Though the numbers are still few, they are more easy to locate today via the Internet.  Your constitutional right to health care does include the use of alternative health care options if you so choose.

However, many of these alternatives may or may not be covered by traditional insurance policies.  Check with your practitioner of choice and/or your insurance carrier to see if the service you are seeking is covered by your insurance policy.  Also, your insurance company may offer an option which will allow you to pay for out of network doctor visits for these services and get reimbursed.
